The 576 Sqn Lancasters of P/O's Holmes and Scott attack the Die-hard Nazi stronghold at Berchtesgaden on 25/4/45. The last big raid of the war. For P/O Holmes-see veteran's page 1.

Image 2 of 2, taken at Fiskerton shortly after an op to Bothrup on 3/2/45. The Lancaster was PA 265 UL-O2 a 576 Sqn B flight mk 1. Crew were: Flt. Lt. Robinson (Aust.) Sgt. Collet, Sgt. McLachlan, S/Ldr. Dutton, F/O Whitehead, F/O Moir(Aust),Sgt. McCullie in rear turret-this was his 20th op. This Lanc was posted missing on 16/17th March 1945 Nuremburg.

576 Sqn photograph taken at Fiskerton March? 1945. This photo was believed to have been taken before the end of hostilities as the Lanc still has the exhaust flame-shrouds fitted.

P/O F.C Ball-W/Op. Sgt. Frost-Rear Gunner. F/O Delaford-Nav. Sgt.McDiamid-Mid-Upper Gunner. S/Ldr. Bracknell-Pilot. The passengers were 8th & 9th from left-Int.Officer and the Bombing Leader. This Lanc was lost the same month but with a different crew. Note: Sgt Frost-Rear Gunner was Killed-In-Action later on his tour, Sgt. White & F/O Delaford were both K.I.A with 617 Sqn in September 1943.

The dark years of war are over. Fiskerton Control Tower on V. E Day 1945.
